How long does one cartridge last?
Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours on a medium flame — about four to six simple meals. Wind and a full-blast flame cut that sharply, so a foil windshield and a lower dial setting will stretch a cartridge considerably. Plan on one cartridge per person per weekend, and always carry a spare.

Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my stove or torch?
If your appliance takes a slot-in canister that loads into the side and locks with a lever, yes — that's the MSF-1a standard. Screw-on threaded canisters used by some backpacking burners are a different fitting and won't work.
Is it safe to use on food?
Yes. The high-purity formulation is odourless and tasteless, which is why it suits kitchen torches for searing and brûlée. Always follow your torch manufacturer's instructions.
Can I refill it?
No. MSF-1a cartridges are single-use. Refilling is unsafe and defeats the pressure-relief design.
How do I know when it's empty?
Weight is the most reliable test. A weak, orange or fading flame usually means it's nearly done. In cold weather, warm the can in your hands first — there is often gas left that low pressure was hiding.
How do I dispose of an empty cartridge?
Run it completely empty, let it cool, then pass it to a scrap metal recycler. Never bin, burn or puncture a cartridge that still holds gas.
Can I take these on a flight or train?
No. Gas cartridges are prohibited on aircraft in both cabin and checked baggage, and restricted on Indian trains. Buy fuel at your destination.
